Our House…

Our Home

Well, we did it!!! We are now officially the proud owners of our first home. I can hardly believe it. No more landlords, bland white walls, or throwing away our hard earned money on rent any longer. Now all the money we pay on housing will go towards paying off our mortgage, so we are ultimately paying ourselves. One of the great things about all this is that we had the mortgage, home & mortgage insurances, and property tax all rolled into one monthly payment that is less than what we were paying for rent. Plus, the fact that we now have a backyard to enjoy again is wonderful. We’ve been without a real backyard since we left Kittery for Plano, so it’s been almost 5 years now. Far too long, in my opinion. Now there’s plently of room for Morgan to play, for us to BBQ, and just be outdoors enjoying nature once again. I can hardly wait until we move in this coming Saturday!!! *deep sigh of happiness*

A Herculean Task!!!

Pile of boxes We started packing in earnest yesterday, and, of course, it has quickly taken over our lives. *sigh* It’s times like these when you realize how much shit you have, and rediscover things that have gotten lost in the shuffle. I came across the school pictures of Morgan from last year, and finally got them all ready to mail to our family. Hopefully it won’t take me that long to mail them the ones that will be taken this year. lol! Pookey has been packing up our mountain of books, and is almost done. We’ve decided to make the 3rd bedroom in our new house a library. We might as well, since there isn’t any other place to really put them. I won’t say we have too many books, since I don’t believe that’s true. Maybe it would be better to say we don’t have enough house instead. Well… I have to get back to packing again. *sigh* Pray for us!!!

The Fun Never Ends…

Thermometer Sorry it’s been so long since I last posted here, but it’s been one thing after another here lately… and another, and another, and another, and another, and another.

My 38th birthday was on February 18th… I don’t mind getting older, as I equate age with life experience, but it is kind of freaky to be 2 years away from being 40. I’m sure I’ll get over it though. *lol*

We got Christopher’s ashes back, and I still need to make up a memorial web page for him. His death also hit me a lot harder than I thought it would, as I’ve been feeling a little low lately, and finally traced it back to my feelings over his death. Hopefully when we get around to adopting a new cat from KittiCo it will help raise my spirits. I know Gus will be happy to have a brother, who is not elderly & frail, to play with.

The whole household was laid low with the flu two weeks ago… It was the kind of flu where you’re either vomiting, or running to the bathroom because you have the trots from hell, but thankfully it was never both at the same time. Thank the Gods! Morgan, of course had it first, since he was the one to bring it home from school. I came down with it next, then Pookey. Morgan was home from school for almost the entire week, which sucked because it was the week before his spring vacation. (Doesn’t that figure?) Pookey was home from work for the entire week, and his employers were extremely lucky that he can work from home because there was no way he could have made it into work. The fun highlights of this illness include having to change Morgan’s bed 3 times for various reasons that I am sure you can imagine for yourself, including the night where we thought he was asking to be tucked into bed, but he had actually thrown up all over it. *sigh* Plus, it was one of those flus that totally wipes you out, and it takes you weeks to fully recover from it. I’m still tired.

As I mentioned above Morgan had his spring vacation last week, and finally went back to school today. Yaaaaaaay!!!!! Unfortunately he got used to staying up way too late, so he didn’t get to sleep until late last night, so he’ll be dragging his ass when he comes home from school. With any luck he’ll end up going to bed early tonight.

Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

Hearts

My day was made when Pookey brought me home a huge box of Godiva chocolates, and a really sweet Hallmark Valentine’s Day card.

The card read:

[front cover] My True Love, My Wife. You are dear to me.

[inside] “True love happens once in a lifetime.”

The dearest thing in life to me is your own precious love, For you’re the center of my plans and all I’m dreaming of, And though the years may change some things, I know that this is true-

Nothing in the world can change the love I have for you.

Happy Valentine’s Day

Isn’t he so sweet??? *happy sigh*

D’Oh!!!

D'Oh! A funny thing happened yesterday… Pookey thought that he had to go to work, but when he got there the employee parking lot was totally empty, and there was a sign on the door about the plant being closed until today. D’oh! When he came home he had to get Morgan to unlock the second deadbolt on the door that can only be unlocked from the inside, since as soon as he leaves for work I lock it. I was still drowsing (but was mostly awake) in bed when I heard the front door open. I proceeded to jump up out of bed, and started to yell at Morgan for opening the door. To my amazement Pookey walked through the door, and told me he didn’t have work today. I said “good” and went back to bed to get a few more hours of sleep. Any extra sleep I can get is all right by me!

On his way home Pookey was able to pick me up a “Create Your Own Memory” coffee tumbler from the Starbucks he frequents!!! We have been looking for them in every Starbucks we’ve been in for the last two months, and could not find them anywhere. I even emailed Starbucks, and asked them where I could find a store that I could purchase them from, but they were no help at all. *sigh* So, I started looking for them in the last ditch place I always look for things I cannot find any other place: ebay.com! Of course I found them there, but if I had know that all we needed to do was special order them at Starbucks, then I could have saved myself some cash. Oh well, at least I have four of them now! *lol* So, if you’re looking for them as well, go to the nearest Starbucks (Not the ones in B&N… They’re just franchises.) that also has a store where they sell mugs, etc, and ask them to special order them for you.

Morgan goes back to school on Thursday, and I cannot wait!!! He can’t either, as he has been talking about school since late last week. He loves to go to school, though not as much as he loved going last year, but I think that has a lot to do with how much he loved his old teacher Kristin. He misses her a lot, and I do as well. *sigh* School is good for him anyway, as it keeps him from driving me completely crazy!
