Well… One of the feral cats I regularly feed had her second litter of kittens, in early March, and so I waited until they were old enough to be away from their mother, but young enough to still be socialized easily. That time turned out to be on Sunday night, when I noticed that she had finally taken them out to meet the world. At that point, I think they were about 5-6 weeks old. I originally thought she just had three of them, and was able to capture two that very night, but got a big surprise the next day when I captured two kittens, instead of just the one I was expecting.
Actually the forth kitten was a double shock to me… He’s the spitting image of Tibee, my beloved cat I lost at the end of last year. So I’m very thankful I was able to capture ALL of them, and those sweet babies will be saved from ending up feral like their mother, and their two year-old half brothers. Thankfully she’s my only female feral, and, yes, I really, really, really need to borrow a trap from Kittico, and get her spayed soon.
There were three males, and one female, and they’re all doing wonderfully… They were socialized within a few days, and now love to sleep on me while I lounge on the couch. Oh, get this, Pookey says I won’t officially be a crazy cat lady until I have at least 20 cats… *pouts*
