You’ll never see the courage I know Its colors’ richness won’t appear within your view I’ll never glow the way that you glow Your presence dominates the judgements made on you But as the scenery grows I see in different lights The shades and shadows undulate in my perception My feelings swell and stretch I…

About The Hawks: The Red-tailed Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis) is the most common hawk in North America. It is a large bird with a broad, red tail. The female is usually larger than the male. It appears that a male, and a female, are co-constructing the nest at The Franklin Institute. Red-tailed Hawks are monogamous, meaning…

Sleep it off again Don’t remember when started Failing to communicate Will it see like I’m in half-hearted? There’s not much to explain When I’m so in my head The stronger the theme The less you will need To hear it from me To know what I am trying to say Sorry if I don’t…

When you try your best, but you don’t succeed When you get what you want, but not what you need When you feel so tired, but you can’t sleep Stuck in reverse And the tears come streaming down your face When you lose something you can’t replace When you love someone, but it goes to…

I’ve been thinking on this idea a lot lately. I agree with the idea, but I’m not sure people “get” it when they hear this. After all, I wouldn’t want to watch heart surgery, even if someone I love needed it. But the way that it makes more sense to me is more straightforward: If no doctor was available, would you perform the surgery yourself?
(Say, with a guidebook. My scenario, my rules. Yeah, it’s not totally worked out.)
Think about it. If someone I love needed heart surgery and I had to perform it, I’d do it. Sorta like the pilot dies while in flight scenario. Appendicitis? Same thing. I’d do everything I could to figure it out and perform the surgery.
Circumcision? No way am I figuring out how to do that unless the boy needed it. That’s the theme I think we’re all trying to get across. For most circumcisions, the boy doesn’t need it. It’s not in his best interest.
Like I said, I don’t have it all figured out, but I like this thought experiment. I doubt I’d ever be able to sell it to someone who doesn’t already question routine circumcision. “That’s stupid,” I can already hear. But marketing is a big reason circumcision continues, so any counter-marketing helps, I hope.
Does that make any sense?
