Dial-Up Hell…
We’ve been stuck in dial-up hell ever since we moved to our new home… It’s been six loooooong weeks. We’ve been waiting for AT&T, and Verizon (since we’re officially in Verizon’s "territory", so they have to coordinate it), to get their thumb out of their asses, and turn on our DSL. *sigh*
I remember when we first had internet access, and there was no such thing as a broadband connection, so we had no choice but to put up with the slowness of dial-up access. Remember the days when it took well over an hour to download 1 MB? I do. At least then, we had no clue what we were missing. We were blissfully ignorant. *sigh* Those were the days.
Today is another story entirely… My email, internet browsing, and website uploading are so slow it’s all I can do not to scream at it to hurry up. Plus, the fact that dial-up by its very nature isn’t "always on" sucks, since the few times a day that I actually connect to get my email generally turns into a lesson in impatience for me. Damn all those spam messages! So, if you call me, and my phone’s voicemail picks up right away you can be sure that I am online trying to get my email. *sigh* I guess this will make me appreciate my broadband connection more, but I could definitely do without my visit to dial-up hell.
