Are you a RPG gamer? (If you don’t know what this is, you’re probably not one…) Then you’ll love The Order Of The Stick: A web based comic that Pookey got me hooked on. The cast of characters - Elan the human bard, Durkon the dwarven cleric, Haley the human rogue, Vaarsuvius the elven mage, Belkar the halfling ranger & Roy the human fighter - is a line up that is bound to tickle the funnybone of any gamer… No matter what gaming system you favor.

It’s been really sweet having Pookey home from work this whole week… It’s usually only on the weekends that I can totally sleep myself out*, so this week has been pure bliss. I have a lot of trouble with insomnia, so I’ll take all the sleep I can get.
Though, with Morgan in school my sleep deficit isn’t as bad as it has been in the past, but I still have one during the week. I mostly have trouble falling to sleep, and it definitely started when I began taking SSRIs to treat my depression 9 years ago. Before that time I didn’t fall asleep fast, but I didn’t lay in my bed for hours like I do now. I’ve taken many different kinds of SSRIs over the years: Paxil, Zoloft, Prozac, Effexor, and I’m currently on Wellbutrin XL. None of them have ever completely alleviated my depression, but I’ve found it better to be on them than to be unmedicated. Sad, but true.
Unfortunately Morgan doesn’t go back to school until January 5th (Two whole weeks off… we never got that when I went to school! No fair!), so I’ll be flying solo for the first half of next week, and he’ll be my alarm clock. *sigh* Oh well, at least I have had this entire week (not to mention the two weekends as well!) to catch up on my sleep.
*i.e. Wake up when I want to wake up, instead of having to wake up because the alarm clock says I have to wake up.

This morning I was woken up at 6:45 am when I heard Morgan open his bedroom door… (I was half expecting him to get up at 4 am, so 6:45 wasn’t too bad.) Then I heard him walk into the livingroom, and say "Yule presents!". After that he came into our bedroom, paused, then quickly turned around and returned to the livingroom to look at all the presents again.
I poked Pookey on his side, but he was already awake. We both chuckled at Morgan’s reaction to his presents. Morgan came back into our bedroom a few minutes later, this time carrying his smallest present (his Spider-man DVD) in his hands. He showed us his present ("Yule present!"), then started to open it. We told him he had to wait to open his present until we both got up… I was pleasantly surprised that he didn’t fuss about having to wait, but it was probably because he was so excited about all of his presents. We dragged ourselves out of bed, and the opening of the Yule presents commenced!
Needless to say, Morgan loved all of his presents, but the highlights seem to be:
1. Fuji FinePix A120 digital camera (I’ve already had to replace the alkaline batteries that came with the camera for heavy duty Ni-MH rechargeable batteries!)
2. Lego: Spider-man’s Train Rescue (Pookey had shitloads of fun putting this together half asleep… Thankfully Morgan let him get some coffee first.)
3. Spider-Man vs. Doc Ock (Animated Series) DVD (Morgan watched this quite a few times throughout the day.)
4. Spider-Man LeapPad Gift Set (He especially loves the Spider-man leappad book that came with the gift set!)
5. Four Tonka vehicles (police car, front loader, dump truck & backhoe) he mostly (except for the police car) got from Pookey’s family. Now he needs a sandbox!
Morgan played with all his new toys for the whole morning, and into the early afternoon, until we went out for our weekly trip to go grocery shopping. He had a minor meltdown (can you say over stimulated?) at Walmart because we didn’t have time to browse through the toy department. (The store was closing at 6 pm…. and we got there at 5! I wish they’d post this a week ahead of time, so I would have known to go earlier!) He didn’t like this at all. *sigh* You’d think he’d be content with the toys he had waiting at home, but noooo. It doesn’t help that he has been greedily eyeing those huge remote controlled cars/trucks/suvs (the ones that cost around $100) that they have at Walmart for quite some time, and has gotten used to going to look at them. Thankfully Pookey was able to calm him down quickly, and the rest of the shopping trip was peaceful. When we came home he resumed his play with all of his new toys, and it kept him busy up until his bedtime. Pure bliss! (the toys keeping Morgan busy, not the meltdown…) *lol*
New Toys + Morgan + Play = Happy Parents!!!

It looks like Morgan won’t be going to see Santa this year… Pookey & I have been sick as dogs with a nasty cold that has now hit everyone in the household. Morgan, of course, came down with it first, and was probably the one who brought it home. *sigh* Then it hit me on Thursday, and the day after that, Pookey. It’s been loads of fun (sarcasm alert!) having my nose totally blocked up. The only bright spot is that it has been trying to jump down into my chest, but so far it hasn’t been successful. Damned cold!
Even though we were both sick we needed to go out on Saturday to pick up the last two holiday gifts we needed to get, and go grocery shopping. Toys R Us was a madhouse, and we almost couldn’t find a place to park! I really should have just sent Pookey out by himself to pick up the gift card for my nephew, but I must have had a brief bout of insanity, as Morgan & I went too. We let Morgan look around for a bit, then I had Pookey go to the check out to buy the card, and I followed Morgan as he wandered around. It’s amazing that people don’t realize quicker that they need to let you get by them when you’re obviously trying to follow your child closely, and just stand there like a lump. It didn’t help that the Toys R Us store we went to didn’t have a lot of space near the check outs for the lines of people that were there. We’ll definitely never go to that one around the holidays again.
I was pleasantly surprised that Walmart wasn’t mobbed as well. We basically got in there, bought our groceries, and got the hell out as soon as possible. I was wiped out by the time we got home, but at least all of our shopping (holiday & regular) was done. Thankfully!

From SouthFlorida.com’s Scared of Santa photo gallery:
Nothing says Happy Holidays like a photo of sweet little toddlers screaming at Santa. The first 25 photos in this gallery are from the Chicago Tribune’s "Scared of Santa" contest. All the rest of the photos were submitted by SouthFlorida.com readers. Enjoy! [Continue Reading]
This weekend I think we’re going to take Morgan to see Santa… I’ll let you know how it goes. Hopefully it won’t be anything like the picture above. Wish us luck!!!
