Morgan There’s only one more week to go until school starts! Yaaaaaaaaay!!! I’ve almost made it through my first summer vacation as a parent, and now I can understand why my mom was so glad to see us go back to school every year! Before Morgan started school, summers were just like all the rest of the days of the year, but now they’re something I don’t look forward to, but then, neither does Morgan. He has really missed going to school, but I have missed him going more! ;) He’s so much better behaved when he has a lot of structure in his schedule, and he gets a lot of that during the school year. There’s only so much structure we can give him when he spends long periods of time at home because his schedule is so fluid, and he can do what he wants, when he wants. It’s good in some aspects, and bad in others.

He’ll be in the 1st grade at a new school this year, but still in a centralized structured classroom for children with autism. He’s looking forward to going back to school so much that he mistakenly thought that today was going to be his first day of school, and woke Pookey & I up at 5 am asking to go to school! We had to disappoint him by telling him that there was no school today, and to go back to bed. Needless to say, we’ve been talking to Morgan about him going back to school a lot lately so he can start getting used to the whole idea. This Friday we are all going to an open house at his new school, though he already met his new teachers, and saw his new classroom when we went to visit the school in mid May. Still, it’ll be nice to drop off all of his school supplies before schools starts, and avoid all of the chaos we had to deal with last year. All I can say is that I can’t wait for next Monday to come! :)
